The Cam Atolyesi Collection
With the Cam Atolyesi project, Erkin Saygi has put forward another new creative yield of his career in the area of glassware of more than 35 years. Together with Ruçhan Topaloğlu, he tries to protect the heritage of Beykoz glass-making in Beykoz, which is the oldest center of traditional Turkish glass-making in Istanbul, and creates the most difficult items of the contemporary glass making art in various fields.
When you carefully look at these items produced with great dexterity at Cam Atolyesi, you can feel the thousands of years of designing tradition of the Anatolian glassware masters... When you look at them more closely, you will see the textures and tracks of the items made by ancient Roman craftsmen, which are exhibited in museums today. And if you touch on the deep cuts of these glass items, you will feel as if you are touching on the oldest and most prestigious pages of the heritage of European glass making art. Yet, if you hold these items near to your ears, you will hear the voice of the creativity of Beykoz glass making. |
